Spring has sprung since our last blog post in March and the Student Enterprise Programme has been full of activities.

Student Enterprise Incubator

We are really excited to be able to announce that there have been exciting developments with our student enterprise incubator! We are delighted that University of Stirling students can now apply for incubator space in the University of Stirling Innovation Park in two ways.

  1. Enter our annual Entrepreneurial Quest competition for a chance to win, amongst other prizes, one year’s incubation. This competition takes place in March each year.
  2. Apply throughout the year for access to the incubator. Access is awarded on the basis of an initial 3 month period which you can apply to have extended.

The University’s student incubator, The Hive, is based on campus at the University of Stirling Innovation Park

We encourage any interested students to discuss their application with Student Enterprise Manager Alasdair Gammack prior to submission (email studententerprise@stir.ac.uk for an appointment). To apply for space in the incubator, simply complete an application form available on our webpages http://www.stir.ac.uk/research/enterprise/studententerprise/.

Lunch with a Leader March

March’s lucky student winners of ‘Lunch with a Leader’ sat down with entrepreneurial leader, Ann-Maree Morrison of Labels4Kids at Stirling Court Hotel.

“Ann-Maree has had such an incredible career path… She took us on a journey detailing her decisions about how her career path continued to change, providing her with the skills and expertise to allow her to set up her own business.”

“Going forward, I see a real need to measure success as not only career goals, but also – often more importantly – goals set outside of work.”

The final ‘Lunch with a Leader’ for the academic year will take place next month. Don’t miss the opportunity to meet and chat to an established entrepreneurial leader over the course of a complementary lunch. Send us an email to: studententerprise@stir.ac.uk by Friday the 14th of April at 5pm.

Let’s Talk Social Media for Business

Enterprising students kicked off April by finding out about best practice for approaching social media for business at Stirling University Innovation Park on campus. ‘Let’s Talk Social Media’ was delivered by the Research and Enterprise Office’s very own Dr Fiona Millar. Students learned to think about their social media purpose and audience, along with top tips and best practice. With the end of academic year nearly in sight, this session was also valuable in prompting students to consider developing and managing their professional personas through social media.
